A 600 foot-wide 'Potentially Hazardous' Asteroid Is Approaching Earth At 30,000 Mph

According to NASA's database, a space rock will approach Earth in the following days at a speed of about 30,000 miles per hour.

The space rock is an asteroid designated 2007 FF1, and scientists who have been following it estimate its diameter to be between 360 and 656 feet. On March 24, the Virtual Telescope Project captured a photograph of the asteroid at a distance of 7.2 million miles from Earth, confirming that 2007 FF1 was about to make its closest approach to Earth yet.

It will fly by Earth from a distance of about 74,23,046 kilometers on 1st April 2022.

NASA has classed the asteroid as "potentially hazardous" because of its diameter of 500 feet or bigger and orbital proximity to Earth of 4.6 million miles, or nearly 19.5 times the distance to the moon. 2007 FF1 was identified in 2007, and it made its closest approach to Earth in August 2020, coming within 10.8 million miles of the planet. The next closest approach of 2007 FF1 is expected on April 2, 2037, when it will travel within 927,000 miles of Earth.
