Tom Hands, a second-year PhD
Student in the Theoretical Astrophysics group at the University of Leicester, produced
this visualization of acknowledged exoplanets with data from the Open Exoplanet
Catalogue. A dive through data of 1774 planets in about 1081 star systems. From
the planets whose courses take thousands of years, to individuals that take
only hours or days.
Hands says his visualization structures
all of the exoplanets that have been discovered around single stars,
"ordered approximately by semi-major axis of biggest orbit," and is
"intended to give the viewer an impression of the current distribution of
exoplanets."
