13.7 Billion Years Of Galaxy Formation In 44.2 Seconds- Video

A spectacular fresh NASA video shows how a spiral galaxy just like our own Milky Way Galaxy forms and take shape, squeezing more than 13 billion years of cosmic evolution into just 45 seconds. This galaxy-evolution video is a supercomputer simulation produced by researchers at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center and chronicles the evolution of a spiral, beginning with its birth just after the Big Bang that formed the universe 13.8 billion years ago. "Galaxies are thought to begin as small clouds of stars and dust swirling through space. As other clouds get close, gravity sends these objects careening into one another and knits them into larger spinning packs," NASA representatives wrote in explanation of the video released Tuesday (May 13).
