Why Mars is More Away from Earth as Compared to Venus

Mars is the second smallest planet and the fourth planet to the sun in our solar system. Average distance of Mars from the sun is about 227,936,640 km. Mars has an orbital period of 687 earth days. Mars has a thin atmosphere. The rotational period of Mars is similar roe art. Just like the earth, its tilt causes seasons. The largest volcano in the solar system is on Mars. This volcano is called “Olympus Mons”. It is the tallest mountain so far known in the solar system and is about 27 kilometers tall. Mars has the longest and deepest canyon in the solar system the Valles Marineris canyon. It stretches 4,000 kilometers along the equator of Mars and can be as deep as 7 km in places. Mars has polar caps like earth, although Mar’s polar caps contain mostly frozen “Carbon Dioxide” instead of frozen water. The sun appears about half the size as it does from earth. Mar’s atmosphere, mostly contains carbon dioxide. About four billion years ago Mars lost a huge part of its magnetic field and because of that cosmic radiation and solar wind interacts directly the Martian ionosphere. Gravity on the surface Mars is about 3.711 m/s². Mars has two natural satellites, Phobos and Deimos and these are thought to be captured asteroids.

We landed on the moon in 1969. Now this is 2014, but we still have not made it to Mars. Why is that? There are many serious problems we have to overcome before we can visit Mars. Here is a funny photo to amuse you. Enjoy the photo and keep two things in mind:

1. The distance from Earth is more than the distance of Venus from Earth and

2. The photo below is just for fun!
